Amazon has put a shock ban on the practice with Fire Sticks last week, which has seen ILLEGAL streamers threatened not to pursue alternative devices.
The so-called dodgies Fire Sticks, which have been altered by cyber criminals to allow them to side-liad illegal steaming apps, have been prevalent.
It has cost the movie and sports broadcasting industry billions of of money because people bypass subscription fees on legal avenues.
The company has also restricted the functionality of VPNs to ensure that it cannot be curtailed by the users.
But The Sun has revealed some users that are currently seeking alternative equipment to carry on with their unlawful streaming tradition.
Anti piracy professionals have advised people to avoid being lured in different illegal alternatives that are available on the internet.
In the past, victims have recounted to The Sun that their bank accounts were hacked shortly after subscribing to the cheap illicit steaming sites where they are given access to Premiere League games and thousands of other high quality TV channels otherwise available on Sky.
“Anyone tempted to look for alternative devices or apps to access illegal streams should think twice,” Kieron Sharp, Chairman of anti piracy organisation FACT told The Sun.
“These services are often run by criminal networks, putting users’ data, devices and even bank details at risk.
“The safest and easiest way to enjoy the content you love is through legitimate services.”
Jake Moore, a specialist at a cybersecurity company ESET cautioned that most piracy applications and websites will obscure the malicious code, tracking programs or links to phishing websites that can empty your bank account.
“The fact they are illegal means those risks but may be unaware of what they can actually do,” he said.
“Users will often need to grant these apps permissions whilst unbeknown to them, giving criminals access to their personal data or even payment details “
Sky which has suffered especially in the hands of illegal streaming, seeing as it has massive rights to stream sports, has stated that the action of Amazon is a good step towards combating piracy.
“Piracy poses serious risks to consumers and the creative sectors, and tackling it effectively also requires full buy -in from all major tech platforms,” said Matt Hibbert, Group Director Anti -Piracy at Sky.
