IKEA is making a big splash in the smart home world with the launch of 21 new Matter-compatible products. This fresh collection arrives as a major step toward making smart homes easier, more affordable, and more connected for everyone.
The new lineup features a mix of smart bulbs, sensors, remotes, and a smart plug. Specifically, IKEA offers 11 types of smart bulbs ranging from standard E27 globes to compact and spotlight versions, each available in white dimmable and color-changing options. There are also five types of sensors, three remote controls, and a new smart plug to round out the collection.
This move is a fresh start for IKEA’s smart home range. It rebuilds the system from the ground up after years of research, development, and feedback from real homes. All products now support Matter, a universal smart home standard. Matter ensures that these devices work smoothly with other brands and platforms like Apple HomeKit and Google Nest, removing tech hassles and expanding compatibility.
David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden, said this launch brings smart home closer to everyone. He emphasized that smart homes haven’t been easy or affordable enough for most people before. “Our goal is to make the smart home easy to use, easy to understand, and within reach for the many,” he said.
At the heart of this new ecosystem is the IKEA Dirigera hub, which acts as a Matter controller and Thread border router. It connects all IKEA Zigbee devices, which can connect to this new ecosystem thanks to the Dirigera Hub’s updates.
The prices of these new smart home gadgets remain wallet-friendly. For example, the smart bulbs cost between 4 and 9 euros (about $5 to $12), making smart lighting accessible to many. IKEA’s ambition is clear: combine simplicity, affordability, and broad compatibility.
This launch includes both new models and improved versions of existing products, all designed to fit everyday life better. The collection will be available initially in the UK and Europe and later in the US.
IKEA is betting big on the future of smart homes by embracing open standards and designing for ease of use. This release proves that affordable technology and smart living can go hand in hand, bringing convenience to more households than ever before.
For fans of user-friendly, budget-conscious smart home gear, IKEA’s 21 new Matter devices arrive just in time to change the game. It’s a stylish, simple, and highly accessible smart home upgrade for 2025.
