The first State of Play of the year by PlayStation is proving to be rather newsworthy. Although Sony has not disclosed much about what it is going to present, the stream is going to last more than an hour, which means that there must be at least something intriguing.
The show will commence at 5 pm ET on February 12. The PlayStation YouTube channel is also broadcasting other variations of the stream. One of them has English subtitles, and the other is in Japanese. Otherwise, you may respond to everything being revealed in the Twitch chat. The showcase will consist of news, gameplay updates and announcements of game studios around the world, as said by Sony. It will “spotlight eye-catching third-party and indie games headed to PS5, along with the latest from teams at PlayStation Studios.
The number of first- party games released by Sony has been comparatively meagre in the past couple of years, but the firm is set to launch three of them within the coming two months. Probably all three of those (Saros, Marathon and MLB The Show 26) will be present at the State of Play. Bungie has stated that Marathon will certainly not be left out, but it disproved rumours that the extraction shooter would have a second play test this weekend.
The Silent Hill front is also positive in terms of news. Konami also has a scheduled Silent Hill Transmission presentation at 7 PM on Thursday, a little after the State of Play. That stream will contain new information regarding Silent Hill: Townfall, which was announced as early as 2022, although we might get a glimpse of that game during the State of Play as well.
In other locations, we could receive a report about the arcade-based tag fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which is a good-looking game published by Sony and made by Arc System Works. The Steam page of the game, which was soon reversed, showed that the game would start with 20 fighters, but more would be added. When the leak happened, it is possible that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will make an appearance at the State of Play.
