Sky is refunding its customers up to £290 on the news that Sky Live is being shut down, and will cease to work in a few weeks. In June 2023, Sky Live was introduced in the UK as an interactive camera which the company said would introduce exciting new ways of sharing your favourite TV with family and friends.
But today, only 2 years later, Sky has already stated that the so-called smart entertainment tool has ceased to exist and will cease operation on December 4.
On Tuesday (November 4), the broadcaster and media company announced: “From today, 4th November, Sky Live customers will start to be notified that Sky Live will cease to operate on 4th December.
“Innovation has always been at the heart of Sky, finding new ways to make the TV experience even better for our customers. Sky Live was part of that journey, and we’re proud of the ambition behind. It’s given us valuable learnings that are helping to shape the future of our products.
“We have, however, made the difficult decision to discontinue it, in order to focus our investment on what matters most to customers.
“In the past few years, we’ve launched the next generation of Sky Glass TVs in Ven 2 & Air, which we continue to make even smarter through new updates to Sky OS.
“We have the UK’s fastest broadband speeds from any major provider, and we’ve launched 5 star rated home insurance with Sky Protect.”
Sky proceeded to say; “We understand this news may be disappointing to people who have enjoyed using Sky Live, a d we’re sorry about that.”
How to claim Sky Live refund
Sky has assured that the customers have a right to a refund, based on the value that they have paid on their Sky Live device.
There is no need to do anything and the money will automatically be transferred to the direct debit connected with the Sky account of users.
To the individuals who made full payments, the money will be refunded back to the card used to shop in three weeks of Tuesday, (November 4). There is no need to send your Sky Live camera back to have a refund. But if you want to send it back to Sky, visit Sky Live returns to receive a pre-paid Royal Mail label.
Alternatively, go to the Recycle Now site and locate your closest recycling centre, where you will also be in a position to dispose of your Sky Live device.
The customers can continue to utilise their Sky Live cameras until December 4. Sky Live will shut down after this date and the product will not longer be supported.
