Tesco has assured that it is returning a well-liked program for shoppers to enjoy beginning this week. Tesco has chosen to create a campaign as a helping hand to millions of people who have made New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier foods.
The supermarket claims to be still on its business to assist families in every state in the country to consume more fruits and vegetables and begin to eat healthily in 2026 under its campaign, which is named Less To Pay For Five-a-Day.
Two weeks later, between December 30 2025 and January 13 2026, families with children will again be in a position of picking up free apples at the checkouts of more than 800 Tesco stores of large size.
Customers of the Click and Collect option will be provided with free apples for their children in 119 Tesco large stores. The apples that will be supplied will be British-grown, as they will be obtained from among six suppliers in the UK, which will enable children to have more access to the fruit.
Ashwin Prasad, the UK CEO of Tesco, stated: “We’re committed to making healthy choices easier, quicker and better value for our customers. With new offers, Clubcard Challenges, free fruit for kids and fresh online recipes, we’re helping kids get more of their five-a-day, and making healthy eating fun for the entire nation.”
Tesco anticipates that it will give out more than three million apples during the period of two weeks. This is an addition to the Fruit and Veg for Schools scheme, which Tesco already has, so that more children in the UK can get access to free portions of fruits and vegetables through their schools, and in the preceding academic year (2024/2025), more than 140,000 children received over 10 million portions of fruits and vegetables.
Government statistics indicate that less than one out of ten children and one out of five adults take the recommended five servings of vegetables and fruits daily. This comes after a consultation of one year conducted in the communities in the UK where Tesco sought to make healthy eating easier and affordable to all households.
The free vegetables and fruits happen to be a part of the latest phase of Tesco’s broader healthy food promotion that is done in the stores and online in the course of January to make customers opt towards healthier options.
Moreover, beginning on January 12, 2026, some customers will be offered Clubcard points as part of Clubcard Challenges by buying fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables, beans and pulses, canned fruit, and vegetables, and dried fruit.
Fruit and veg will have new Clubcard Prices and offers, and five-a-day Fresh Five offers on five-a-day basics. Tesco Real Food website will have a refreshed five-a-day hub that offers recipe inspiration and ideas.
